Norma Jean Swanson

Norma Jean Swanson, 91, of Geneseo IL, passed away on February 16, 2026, at Woodridge of Geneseo, IL. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Vandemore Funeral Home – Geneseo Chapel. Pastor Terry Lancaster will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Norma Swanson Memorial Fund.

Norma was born on August 5, 1934, the daughter of Edward and Frances (Buysse) Wirth in Geneseo, IL. She married Darrell Swanson on November 13, 1954. He precedes her in death. Norma spent her years as a homemaker, taking care of her children. She loved reading and completing crossword puzzles. Norma loved to garden and enjoyed canning all the vegetables she would harvest from her garden. Above all else, Norma loved spending time with her family the most.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Terry (Carol) Swanson of Bonham, TX, grandchildren, Tabatha Keeler, Scarlett Ledbetter, Brandi Russell, Austin Swanson; brother, Lyle (Sally) Wirth of Geneseo, IL; nieces, Michelle Cutlip, Brenda Pardoe, and Jill Ranes; and 2 great grandchildren, Weston Russell and Cooper Keeler.

She is preceded in death by parents, Edward and Frances; husband Darrell; sons, Steven and Scott Swanson.
